When Apollo lunar samples were brought back, the NASA curators had the foresight to say, “in this moment we don’t have all the methods to answer all the questions these samples could help us answer’ and so they locked some away for future study,” says Jessica Barnes, an incoming assistant professor in the UA’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, recently selected by NASA to receive access to preciously unopened moon rock samples.
