Today’s ‘Planet Earth Report’ –Elephant Murder Mystery: “A Serial Killer?” (VIDEO)

When young bull elephants start killing off females, scientists realize that severe poaching not only skewed the sanctuary’s gender balance, resulting in one male for 150 females, psychologically damaging these once gentle giants.

Game wardens at Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in South India were horror-struck when they discovered dead female elephants littering the once peaceful 350-square-mile block of land.

The cause of death wasn’t immediately clear: one has a mutilated trunk, two had head injuries, and one has a shattered jaw. Local conservationists became investigators, but they were running out of possible explanations for these mystifying deaths.
